Salary: Salary/Rate: £50,000 - £55,000/annum

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a dynamic and fast-paced construction business. This role will work closely with both the Accounts Payable team and wider Finance Department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and efficient processes across the business.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven finance professional with construction sector experience who thrives in a collaborative environment.


Responsibilities
  • Oversee and support the Accounts Payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments
  • Partner closely with finance teams to produce monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Review and reconcile supplier accounts, resolving discrepancies efficiently
  • Ensure compliance with financial controls, policies, and procedures
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting and cost tracking across projects
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Collaborate with project and commercial teams to provide financial insight
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and reporting

Company

DESIRABLE QUALITIES:

  • Experience with construction ERP systems (e.g., COINS, SAP, Sage, Viewpoint)
  • Knowledge of CIS (Construction Industry Scheme)
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior staff

Candidate requirements
  • Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or similar role within the construction industry
  • Strong understanding of Accounts Payable processes and finance operations
  • Qualified or part-qualified (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with project-based accounting environments
  • Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise across departments
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Excel
