Responsibilities

We are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team of a highly reputable, family-owned developer based in Colchester, Essex. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the delivery of a 250-unit new build project, consisting entirely of timber frame homes. The successful candidate will support the Quantity Surveying team in managing project costs, budgets, and financial forecasting, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality homes for the local community.

  • Assist in managing costs, budgets, and forecasting for a large-scale, 250-unit timber frame residential project.
  • Work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and project team to ensure financial and contractual targets are met throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support procurement, subcontractor management, and project variations, contributing to cost efficiency and project success.
  • Work alongside senior staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality, value-for-money homes in line with the company's commitment to excellence.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports and project tracking tools to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Visit the site regularly to assess project progress and report on cost and budget management.
  • Help maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure smooth project delivery.


Candidate
  • Relevant degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field (e.g., RICS accredited).
  • Some experience in a Quantity Surveying role, preferably with residential or new build projects.
  • Knowledge of timber frame construction would be advantageous, but not essential.
  • Strong financial management skills and the ability to assist in controlling costs, budgets, and forecasting.
  • A team-oriented individual with excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
