CSC Recruitment are seeking to appoint a meticulous and detail orientated Assistant Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates, ensuring our projects are delivered on budget and meet the highest standards.


Responsibilities

Assist in Preparing Estimates:

  • Collaborate with the estimating team to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for high-end residential refurbishment projects.
  • Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and other documents to understand project requirements.
  • Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labour expenses.

Data Collection and Analysis:

  • Gather and analyse data on all factors that can influence costs, such as materials, labour, and equipment.
  • Maintain a database of cost information and update regularly with current market prices.

Bid Preparation:

  • Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, ensuring all required information is included and presented clearly.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to understand the scope of work and identify any potential challenges.

Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination:

  • Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Develop relationships with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and reliable services.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of all estimates and supporting information.
  • Assist in the preparation of regular reports for senior management on project costs and budget status.

My client is a main contractor with particular focus on the high end residential, retail, hotel and heritage works in London’s the most desirable postcodes. They are seeking an Assistant Estimator to bolster their pre-construction team due to an increase in work demands.

They have been established for over 20 years based in South West London, renovating buildings using unparalleled expertise in complex structures, construction and building services delivering exceptional quality and craftsmanship. They unlock projects, strip them back, apply whole build knowledge and bring out their best. 


Candidate

Experience:

  • Previous experience in estimating, preferably within the high-end residential refurbishment sector, is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal requirements.

Candidate requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

A degree or HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Project Management or related field is desirable

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in any estimating software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
