Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 and package
Title: Design Manager - Fitout Main Contractor


Design Manager for Cat A & B Fitout projects who will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of interior fitout project, reporting to the Head of Design. Ensure that projects meet client specifications, budget constraints, and timelines. This role requires a blend of creative, technical, and managerial skills to lead the design process from concept through completion.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Client Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing expectations and ensuring satisfaction with the design process and final outcomes.
  • Conduct regular design presentations and progress meetings with clients to provide updates and gather feedback.
  • Address and resolve any design-related issues or concerns raised by clients in a timely manner.

Budget and Cost Control:

  • Manage project budgets, ensuring design solutions are cost-effective and within financial constraints.
  • Monitor project expenditures and adjust plans as necessary to stay within budget.

Quality Assurance:

  • Implement quality control processes to ensure design standards are maintained throughout the project.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to verify that design elements are being installed correctly and to specifications.
  • Address any design defects or issues promptly to maintain project quality and integrity.

Company

The contractor is part of a large group companies with an annual turnover in excess of £1.5 billion per annum.  The UK branch has an annual turnover of £40 million and projects that range from £3 million through to £10 million fast track commercial, retail, hotel, leisure, healthcare and blue light sectors.


Candidate

Open to hear from candidates from an architectural, project management or document control background if candidates have at least 4 years experience of design management and have seen multiple projects from inception to completion.

  • Office-based with regular site visits.
  • Some travel may be required depending on project locations.

Candidate requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in design management, with a focus on Category A & B fitout projects.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing design projects from inception to completion.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong understanding of building systems, construction methods and materials.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate design concepts and ideas effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism and tact.
  • Coordinate with construction teams to ensure design intent is accurately executed during the build phase.
