Title: Handover Manager
Are you an experienced and detail-oriented Handover Manager looking to take the next step in your career? A leading construction company is seeking a talented professional to support Project Managers in ensuring a seamless handover process across all contracts within their London Business unit. This role is project-based, with the flexibility for occasional remote working.
Responsibilities
As a Handover Manager, you will:
- Establish and verify contractual requirements for project handovers, referencing key documents such as Employer Requirements, Sustainability objectives, and statutory approvals.
- Develop and implement a robust Handover Plan, ensuring alignment with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all statutory approvals (e.g., Planning conditions, Building Control sign-off) are secured for project completion.
- Manage sectional handovers and practical completion (PC), identifying required documentation and assigning responsibilities to meet deadlines.
- Engage with tenants, end users, occupiers, and building management teams to ensure a smooth handover process and manage expectations effectively.
- Oversee progress in handover documentation collation and reporting, ensuring project milestones are met.
- Communicate efficiently with project teams to align on key actions and objectives.
- Provide training on Handover-specific systems such as E-Docs for O&M manuals and 4Projects.
- Coordinate activities between design teams, contractors, and statutory bodies (e.g., Local Authority Planners, Building Control, HSE) to meet critical programme deadlines.
- Support project teams in achieving 'Perfect Delivery' by understanding client needs and facilitating clear communication throughout the handover process.
- Work across various projects in later stages to manage the Handover process.
- Office/Site Based – 40%/60% split.
- Direct report to Project PM, with oversight by the Ops Director.
Candidate
Candidate requirements
- 5+ years of experience working for a main contractor on various projects.
- Strong understanding of contractual, statutory, and regulatory handover requirements.
- HND/HNC/Degree qualification in a relevant field.
- Ability to lead and provide a professional, structured, and sustainable handover process for clients and project teams.
- Experience with data management systems such as 4Projects and E-Docs.
- Ability to independently establish and manage the liaison and process required for successful project handovers.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, ensuring clarity and collaboration across all parties.
