Attending interviews can be daunting, whether you’re an old hat at it, a little rusty, or it’s your first time. Let’s start with one of the most important factors – the first impression. Never underestimate the importance of appearance. Look prepared. Wear a tie and a suit so that you appear smart. Some companies may have a relaxed dress code and others require you to suit up, so best not to risk it. We have had very capable Directors rejected by clients for turning up in scruffy attire. Looking good makes you feel good, and this can really boost your confidence. Behave professionally when speaking, always go in for a firm handshake and let your body language be open. Arrive early to the appointment and make sure you know your route beforehand on public transport as well as on foot around the local area: Don’t let any road closures, tube delays or google map issues get in the way of the interview. Arriving ruffled and flustered will start the day off with a tension you do not need. Take your time, make a plan and begin as you mean to go on: with confidence.
