A very important part of the interview process is knowing your potential employer. Do thorough research on who they are, their current projects and the role. Check out their website, linkedin profile, any current press for recent awards or charity work – anything to get a feel of their culture. As an agency we work with our clients very closely and that partnership means we understand how each client interviews: every client’s style of interviewing is different. They may be technically focused or prefer an informal environment. By having good relationships with clients we can give the best guidance on your first meeting with them.

Remember it isn’t just about getting the job, it’s also about impressing them with your knowledge of their business, the sector and your own solid experience. This could result in a better salary or package. The interview is your first step in the door – the place to show them who you are, but also what you can do. Make sure you get as much as you can out of the interview by asking them good questions, as this is your opportunity to get an insight into the project and company from those who work there.

Research, research, research. It really will hold you in good stead.
